About Kuali Coeus

What is Kuali Coeus?

Kuali Coeus is an enterprise-wide, cradle-to-grave, electronic system that is the result of the partnership between the Kuali Foundation and Coeus Consortium and is based on Coeus functionality developed at MIT.

Kuali Coeus is an electronic system used to standardize research administration processes. Modeled after Coeus, which was developed here at MIT, it is a cradle-to-grave award management system that is designed to assist the research community in proposal development, tracking of submitted proposals, and award acquisition and management.

Pre-Award

In terms of pre-award processing, Kuali Coeus allows for the preparation of electronic proposals (both new and copied from prior works) and routing to obtain internal approvals. Additionally, it allows for proposals logs, research tracking, and grants.gov submissions.

Post-Award

Kuali Coeus provides a robust post-award assistance through the entire award lifecycle. It stores detailed information on awards, sponsor-specific terms and conditions, reporting requirements and tracking functionality, as well as required special reviews for the award. Complementary modules, such as Award Budget, SubAward, Negotiation, and Report Tracking can also be utilized for compliance throughout the research administration processing.
